PIGMENT DISORDERS

PIGMENT DISORDERS

The development of pigmentation disorders is usually multifactorial. Common triggers include UV radiation, hormonal influences, inflammatory skin conditions, certain medications, or age-related changes in the skin. Genetic factors can also play a role. The severity, progression and need for treatment vary significantly depending on the cause and depth of the pigmentation.

Not every pigmentation change requires treatment; nevertheless, many people affected find the uneven skin tone cosmetically unsightly. As various pigmentation disorders can appear similar externally, a dermatological assessment is advisable to correctly identify the type and cause of the pigmentation change.

Depending on the findings, various treatment approaches can be considered, tailored to skin type, severity and personal needs. The aim is to harmonise the skin’s appearance in the long term and make the skin tone appear more even – under specialist supervision and using an approach tailored to the skin.

Retinol peels, for example, can be a suitable treatment.

Pigmentation issues, uneven skin tone and sun-damaged skin can be effectively treated with a medical retinol peel. The professional retinol peel using the NeoStrata®️ ProSystem is a dermatologically supervised treatment designed for targeted skin renewal and is carried out only following a consultation with a specialist.

The treatment is based on 3% retinol (vitamin A) in combination with the patented Retinol Boosting Complex, comprising, among other ingredients, NeoCitrate®️ and Aminofil®️. Retinol promotes cell renewal, influences pigment distribution and supports collagen formation. Accompanying active ingredients such as bisabolol and vitamin E help to soothe the skin and provide antioxidant protection.

After the treatment, visible, temporary flaking of the skin may occur. This reaction is part of the desired treatment effect and an indication of stimulated skin renewal. Patients are generally still able to go about their daily lives. For optimal results, several sessions at defined intervals are usually required.

The aim of the treatment is a gradual improvement in skin texture, harmonisation of skin tone and a visible reduction in pigmentation irregularities. The therapy is carried out under the supervision of a specialist and with a personalised treatment plan.
